Crews first responded to the scene near 786 County Road at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday following reports that someone went through the ice and into the water, described by the fire department as a pond used to flood cranberry bogs.Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz says Wareham police officers and firefighters attempted to find the man, but they were unsuccessful and requested additional assistance.Emergency personnel searched until 11:45 p.m. Sunday when the search was postponed due to time and weather conditions. WAREHAM The recovery effort is expected to resume this morning in Wareham to find a man who fell through the ice on Sunday.
Crews responded to the area of 786 County Road at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, after reports that someone had fallen through the ice of pond that serves as the reservoir for cranberry bogs.
The Plymouth County Dive Team was called in to assist, but murky water made it difficult to find the man.
