Wareham police and fire were unsuccessful in their attempts to locate the man, so additional assistance was requested including the Wareham Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Police.
The Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team (PCTRT) was also activated and multiple departments and members of PCTRT responded to the scene, including the regional dive team.
Emergency personnel performed search operations in difficult conditions until 11:45 p.m. Sunday when the search was postponed due to time and weather conditions. The water is murky. Stumps, trees and other objects are in there, so there s a lot of hazards they re trying to get around, Wareham Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Haskell said. Plus there s ice trying to get ice moved around under the ice using divers, sonar.

WAREHAM, MA A man died Sunday after falling through the ice in Wareham, said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz in a news release.
Wareham Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a man possibly drowned in the pond approximately 4:31 p.m. Sunday said Cruz. They were initially unsuccessful in their attempt to locate the man and requested additional assistance from a Plymouth County Dive Team, Wareham Department of Natural Resources, and Massachusetts Environmental and State Police.

After searching for the man until 11:45 p.m. Sunday, officials postponed the search until Monday morning due to time and weather conditions. At approximately 12:45 p.m. Monday, the man was located along the shoreline.

First responders are working to search the area of 786 County Road in West Wareham, where it is believed a person fell through the ice on Sunday evening.
According to the Wareham Department of Natural Resources, it is believed the person fell into a bog reservoir.
Dive teams are on the scene, and a sonar search is being conducted.
