Wareham High’s Cecilia Bottino part of prestigious summit

WAREHAM - Wareham High senior Cecilia Bottino recently completed a prestigious four-day international youth summit during the February school vacation.
According to its website, Knovva Academy s G20 Virtual Summit on Climate Change and the Future of Humanity builds a global community by combining proven approaches to learning with cutting-edge technology, gamified simulations, immersive learning experiences, and innovative coursework.
Cece and her classmates explored the climate crisis as the definitive global challenge of the 21st century. She examined the foundations for climate action through scientific, strategic, and cultural lenses. Nomination papers are now available for the upcoming Town Election, and a race for a seat on the Board of Selectmen is on the horizon.
The Town Election will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4.

He will be facing one challenger: Glenn Lawrence, a current member of the Finance Committee.
Slavin was first elected to the Board of Selectman in 2012, and is a longtime member of the Southeastern Regional Planning & Economic Development District, the Massachusetts Selectmen’s Association and the Massachusetts Municipal Association.
Asked why he is running again, Slavin said there are a number of large town projects that he has been working on for years and would like to see through, including bringing the commuter rail to Wareham, fixing up Merchants Way, and building a new police station and community center.
Bill Jenkins wins New England Key Club District-wide award

WAREHAM – While it was a surprise to Bill Jenkins, it was no surprise to those familiar with his work for the Wareham and Bourne High School Key Clubs that he had been awarded a prestigious New England Key Club District-wide award.
The award, called the George Whitney Leader of Leaders Award, was presented to Jenkins during the Bourne-Wareham Kiwanis Club’s Zoom meeting Monday.
Jenkins was definitely surprised. In fact, he was late and had to be called by phone. He said he’d be there in a minute. He was eating dinner.
