After he was shot in broad daylight on a street in Amsterdam’s downtown, famous Dutch investigative journalist Peter R. de Vries, acclaimed for his efforts in exposing the criminal underground, is currently struggling for his life. The 64-year-old reporter had just left a TV studio in the Dutch capital city when one of the five shots fired at him at close range wounded him in the head.

El reportero neerlandés Peter R. de Vries, especializado en crimen organizado,
lucha por su vida en el hospital tras recibir un disparo en la cabeza mientras transitaba la noche del martes por Lange Leidsedwarsstraat, una calle en pleno centro de Ámsterdam. Un atentado calificado de «ataque a la democracia» y a la «libertad de prensa». La policía ha detenido a tres sospechosos, entre los que figura el presunto autor del tiroteo, aunque todavía no está claro el móvil del ataque al reportero, ni si hay una organización criminal específica detrás de lo ocurrido.
