Tomorrow: USPTO to host NCEAI Innovation Chat
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will host a National Council for Expanding American Innovation (NCEAI) Innovation Chat on
Thursday, April 1, from noon to 1 p.m. ET. The virtual discussion will focus on the topic of creating innovators. Watch the chat online.
The first portion of the Innovation Chat will be a panel discussion moderated by Wayne Stacy, Director of the USPTO’s Silicon Valley Regional Office. The panel will include Dr. Javier Diez, Inventor, CEO of SubUAS, LLC, and Professor at Rutgers University; Dr. Wendy Wintersteen, President of Iowa State University; and Tiki Dare, Vice President of Trademark & Copyright at Oracle Corp.

The Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, or the BCLT, recently named intellectual property and patent lawyer Wayne Stacy the new executive director.
On Saturday, several members of the trail authority board met at the Mine Made Adventure Park to celebrate the naming ceremony of the First Frontier Appalachian Trails as well as introduce the new executive director, Scott Smith. Many speakers attended the event, including Rep. Chris Fugate, Sen. Brandon Smith, Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman and many more.

Following the U.S. National Weather Service of Jacksonâs announcement of an anticipated significant ice storm for most of Eastern Kentucky last week, several communities in Hazard and Perry County have continued to see weather-related issues surrounding ice and snow storms that continued to impact the county into this week. These impacts include power outages, tree damage and treacherous travel conditions.
Jerry Wayne Stacy, the Perry County Emergency Management director, said that the largest concern for local officials at the moment is the downed trees.
