VENICE Sarasota county deputies have arrested a couple after an incident in which a 21-month-old boy consumed cocaine earlier this year.
The Sheriff s Office says that on the afternoon of January 8th, they responded to a home along Park Road to assist paramedics, who were dealing with an unconscious child who wasn t breathing.
Their arrest report says Kaitlyn Van Dorn, then 32, told first responders the child picked up something off the ground and put it in his mouth when they went on a walk, stumbling and becoming limp before passing out. The report says Van Dorn told detectives the child had a teal bucket to pick up rocks. The teal bucket was found but a spoon inside tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine. Detectives also found a crack pipe in the home.
