DEVELOPING: Train stuck on tracks, major traffic backup

KLKN-TV January 25, 2021 12:37 pm LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) Our reporter on scene says the train is now moving, but traffic will remain backed up until it clears the area. During Monday’s severe winter weather, a train is stuck on the tracks near Hwy 77 and Van Dorn Street. Traffic is unable to be diverted from the area, causing significant backup and one accident. Lincoln Police are asking drivers to AVOID the area. Channel 8 has a reporter heading to the area as we speak to bring you live updates. There is an accident on highway 77 and Van Dorn street. Due to a train stuck on tracks at Park and South street, they are unable to divert traffic causing a significant traffic back up. Police investigate serious car crash | Alexandria Times

Alexandria police are currently investigating a vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon and left an Alexandria resident in critical condition and resulted in him losing both legs, according to a news release. At around 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 200 block of Van Dorn St. a 59-year-old Alexandrian was hit by a vehicle as he was walking across the parking lot, according to the release. The vehicle was driven by Catalin Filipeanu, a 52-year-old Alexandria resident, who remained at the scene of the crash until police arrived. The victim was taken to a local hospital where, due to the crash, he lost both his legs and remained in critical but stable condition, according to the release.

Operation Backpack getting students set for school – Echonetdaily

After a successful program last year, Operation Backpack is on again. In the lead-up to first term 2021 the community partnership between Lismore Shopping Square and St Vincent de Paul Society is again set to help families with primary aged children to receive essential back-to-school supplies through the generosity of shoppers. This is the third such collaboration between the complex and Vinnies, but this year there will be a few changes because of the need for COVID-19 precautions. Shoppers are being asked to make financial donations for the purchase of school supplies such as stationery, uniforms and backpacks from Lismore Shopping Square retailers.
