Plans to open a wine tasting room at 6033 N. Wayne Road were recently submitted to the city. Those plans, which call the business A Taste of Wine, would see the wine tasting room locate in a vacant storefront in the Tall Oaks Plaza along the west side of Wayne Road between Warren and Ford Road.
The business s owner, Dawn Howard, told the Westland Planning Commission that she planned on having several varieties available in the tasting room when it opens. I plan on ordering from several contractors, one would be Budweiser and they have different wines and so that s what it s all about, she said. Tasting wine and ordering wine and finding out what people like. As they like it, I can order more.

Plans are in motion to construct a brand-new Burger King restaurant at 38411 Ford Road on the southwest corner of the Ford Road/Hix intersection. If built, it would be directly across the street from a McDonald s restaurant.
The project has been in development for several years, said Eric Williams with Stonefield Engineering. It was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and issues surrounding shutdowns but is moving forward again.
The proposed restaurant would include a drive-thru and parking for 32 vehicles. Left turns onto Ford Road from the new restaurant would be prohibited, Williams said, a condition that was required by the Michigan Department of Transportation for the permit.
