After switching to the Republican Party, New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew famously pledged his his ‘undying support’ to then-President Donald Trump during a December 2019 meeting at the White House.
But in his first year as a Republican, Van Drew opposed Trump more often than all but three members of the GOP conference, according to Congressional Quarterly’s annual vote studies.

House is expected to vote on $1.9T proposal today
TRENTON, NJ With President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan slated for a vote in the House of Representatives today, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee is calling on Rep. Jeff Van Drew and Rep. Chris Smith to put partisanship aside and support the $1.9 trillion relief package. Polling has shown that President Biden’s proposal is extremely popular, with 72% of Americans supporting it according to a recent national poll and support for the plan coming from across the ideological spectrum, including earlier this week from a group of 150 of the nation’s top CEOs.
