Mr. Venu Gopala Krishna took stock of the COVID care facilities and treatment in various private hospitals, District Government Hospitals and COVID Care Centre at Bommuru in the wake of alleged exploitation of patients by some hospitals.

Authorities told to set up care centres in all revenue divisions Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas on Saturday directed the East Godavari district authorities to set up a COVID Care Centre in all the revenue divisions on a war-footing basis. In a review meeting held with the district officials and public representatives, Mr. Krishna Srinivas admitted that there is a shortage in supply of oxygen in the district and assured the officials that the required 72 kg of oxygen per day would be arranged soon. At present, the district authorities are able to get barely 45 kg per day. Of the total cases reported in the district during the second wave, Rajamahendravaram revenue division alone accounts for 34.3%. In East Godavari, as many as 690 persons succumbed to COVID by April 30 and 12,234 cases are active.

Chittabbai (71) died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kakinada in East Godavari district on Thursday. A native of Amalapuram town, Mr. Chittabbai was elected to the Assembly as Independent candidate in 2004. “Mr. Chittabbai died of cardiac arrest. As per his medical reports, he did not suffer from COVID-19,” District Medical and Health Officer K.V.S. Gowreeswara Rao said. Mr. Chittabbai had been associated with the YSRCP since its establishment. He had served as party district president during its formative years.

Three TruNat test centres opened in East Godavari Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The State government on Monday opened three TruNat test centres at Ramachandrapuram, Tuni and Kothapeta towns in East Godavari district, conducting at least 1,200 to 1,500 COVID-19 tests per day at the three centres. In Ramachandrapuram town, Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ch. Venu Gopala Krishna inaugurated the TruNat test centre where five machines have been set up to test at least 500 people a day. Collector D. Muralidhar Reddy and District Medical and Health Officer Dr. K.V.S.Gowreeswara Rao said that the TruNat test centres would help increase testing from 5,000 to over 6,000 per day in the district, where every 20 out of hundred people are testing positive for COVID-19.

Venu Gopala Krishna on Friday inaugurated a Power Swing Absorption plant that wil produce 1,700 litres of medical oxygen per day at the Government General Hospital (GGH-K) here in East Godavari district. The State government spent ₹1.20 crore on the construction of the oxygen plant that aims at supplying medical oxygen to COVID-19 patients admitted to GGH-Kakinada, which has been declared as a COVID-19 hospital with a 1000-bed capacity.
