and Sheila Johnson s Salamander Hotels & Resorts announce the debut of The Family Reunion presented by Kwame Onwuachi, a multi-day event that will celebrate diversity in the hospitality community through cooking classes and demonstrations, wine tastings and dinners, and thought-provoking panel discussions with world-class chefs, sommeliers and industry leaders including Carla Hall, Edouardo Jordan, Nina Compton, Carlton McCoy, Gregory Gourdet, Mashama
Rook Evans, age 87, of Marshall, died Sunday, January 24, 2021, at The Arbors at Westport Estates in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 29, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Dr. Mike Parris and Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. Masks are required at all events. There will be no visitation, but friends may stop by Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home to sign the guestbook and pay their respects from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, January 28. The family request no flowers, and that memorials be made to First Baptist Church or Salt Fork YMCA.

NEWPORT NEWS After staying strong for so long, this wonderful man, Hunter Lewis Handle, 91, finally found his way to heaven Monday, Jan. 11, 2021.
His intellect was only rivaled by his compassion, and he will forever be remembered as a man who always thought of others before himself.
In these turbulent times, he remained a rock for so many to hold on to and stood as a beacon, illuminating those around him so that they may find their way.
Unquestionably, he was a loving husband, a wonderful father and an amazing PopPop who leaves behind so many family members and friends who will undoubtedly miss him. His many wisdoms will resonate through all who knew him for years to come.
