One of the county s most historic and controversial festive traditions - the Boxing Day hunt - has been cancelled for the first time since the war.
Masters of the East Kent Hunt with West Street, which has been meeting in Elham Square on December 26 since 1903, took the decision in the wake of the increased Covid restrictions.

Hunting has been “stopped with immediate effect” on land belonging to the owner of fashion chain H&M.
Stefan Persson, the Swedish billionaire, owns Ramsbury Estates covering 19,000 acres across Wiltshire, Berkshire and Hampshire
ITV News has been told there will be no hunting on the land “for the foreseeable future” after allegations were made against the Vine & Craven Hunt.
A spokesperson for the estate said the hunt “have countered the allegations, but if proven the law will take its course”.
According to Forbes Persson is worth more the £15 billion.
He stepped down as chair in May 2020 but the business is still in the family with his son Karl-Johan taking over the role.

HUNTING has been banned with immediate effect on all land belonging to Ramsbury Estates Limited.
The move follows a “serious”, but unspecified, incident on land near Hungerford involving the Vine & Craven Hunt.
Ramsbury Estates Limited said in a statement: “The estate became aware of certain allegations made against the Vine & Craven Hunt last week.
“This was following an outing by the hunt on the eastern side of the estate near Hungerford.
“These allegations would be in contravention of the 2004 Hunting Act and, if true, would be a very serious matter.
The Swedish billionaire owner of H&M has banned trail hunting on his 19,000-acre estate following accusations of foxes being illegally targeted.
Stefan Persson had previously allowed the Vine and Craven Hunt to ride on his Ramsbury Estates, which sprawls across Wiltshire, Berkshire and Hampshire.
But saboteurs alleged that on Saturday, December 6, the Hunt used voice calls associated with foxhunting, which was made an offence in 2004.
The Hunt strenuously denies straying beyond the permitted form of trail hunting, but the clothing tycoon, who is worth around £20billion, has now barred all activity on his land indefinitely.
