On Tuesday, a Minnapolis jury found former police office Derek Chauvin guilty of three charges, including two for the murder of Floyd. For activists, like Hobdy, who is president of the Greenville Branch of the NAACP, it was a moment that will not soon be forgotten. “When I watched it [the reading of the verdict] on the news, it just seemed to me that justice worked,” said Greenville NAACP Branch President Will Hobdy.

Public hearing on proposed emergency district canceled

Feb 7, 2021 A public hearing which had been scheduled Monday concerning the creation of a proposed Emergency Services District has been canceled. file photo A public hearing concerning the proposed creation of an Emergency Services District, also referred to as an ESD, in Hunt County which had been planned for Monday evening has been canceled. The hearing is now expected to be set later this year and as such, it means a vote on the measure won’t take place before the November elections at the earliest. The hearing was being hosted by the Hunt County Commissioners Court and was scheduled inside Greenville Municipal Auditorium, 2821 Washington Street.
