–The County of San Luis Obispo recently announced that Rebecca Campbell, the current County Administrative Officer (CAO) for Kings County, has accepted a job offer as the assistant county administrative officer for the County of San Luis Obispo.
Campbell has worked for the County of Kings since 2005, where she served as both the Assistant CAO and most recently as the CAO, since 2017. In this role, Campbell manages the day-to-day operations of all county functions and activities, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors, including management of a $443 million budget.
SLO County drawing down large-scale COVID-19 response operations
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. San Luis Obispo County is currently drawing down some of its large-scale COVID-19 response operations.
Two recent announcements show the county is pulling back on two high-profile relief operations.
The county s Alternate Care Site (ACS), which was built soon after the pandemic started last year as a temporary hospital inside the Cal Poly Recreation Center, is now being dismantled.
The facility held hundreds of beds intended for future patients who were too sick to care for themselves at home but did not need acute care provided at a hospital.

Virginia Wells Horton, 78, of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was born on June 16, 1942, in Gulfport, Miss., to the Rev. Odel and Mabel Wells. She married Johnathan David Horton on July 11, 1964, in Plattsburgh, Miss. She and David enjoyed 42 rich, adventurous years together in a marriage full of love and laughter until David went home to be with the Lord in May 2006.
She was a gifted vocalist, yet wanted to be a mathematician. Upon the advice of her older brother Gerald, she abandoned her studies in math to pursue music education. She earned a bachelor of music education at the University of Southern Mississippi, and a master of music education from the George Peabody School for Teachers in Nashville.

As COVID-19 conditions in San Luis Obispo County continue to improve, officials announced Wednesday that efforts are underway to dismantle the Alternate Care Site at Cal Poly.
