Minister: Govt could not defer tax requests by Gail Alexan­der Gov­ern­ment could not ful­fill re­quests be­ing made to de­fer tax­es– but the tax amnesty be­ing im­ple­ment­ed will al­low peo­ple who had dif­fi­cul­ty pay­ing their tax­es on time in the pan­dem­ic, to do so with­out penal­ties and in­ter­est. Fi­nance Min­is­ter Colm Im­bert in­di­cat­ed this in yes­ter­day’s Sen­ate de­bate of the Fi­nance Bill. He said re­quests to de­fer tax­es couldn’t be met as rev­enue was need­ed to run T&T and pro­vide pan­dem­ic re­lief grants.
