An Auckland man accused of seriously injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run has appeared in court four days after the incident.
After scouring CCTV footage and appealing to the public for help, police arrested Clive Vakalahi.
The collision happened in the early hours of Sunday morning on main thoroughfare Sandringham Rd, between Skeates Ave and Farrelly Ave near the Wesley Community Centre.
With a combined 120 years of service, officials with the Amarillo Wesley Community Center and Los Barrios de Amarillo are looking back on the impact the organizations have made for not only the Barrio neighborhood, but on the city of Amarillo as a whole.
According to a news release from the organizations, the Wesley Community Center is celebrating its 70th birthday this year, while Los Barrios de Amarillo is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
“This anniversary makes us extremely proud and grateful. For the past decades, (the Wesley Community Center) and (Los Barrios de Amarillo) has stood the test of time,” the release read. “We have tackled issues on social justice, mental health, education, poverty, accessibility and more.”
