Reply There are seniors who are truly homebound with debilitating illness or disabilities who can t leave home but for the most dire of circumstances. They need the Covid-19 vaccine but can t leave their home. My executive Assistant Krista Madsen is compiling a list of names, phone numbers and addresses of residents who want the vaccine but are homebound and can t get the vaccination outside of their home. At some point in the future home visits may be possible (housecall vaccinations are not being offered right now). Please e mail my secretary kmadsen@greenburghny.com if you would benefit from the home visit or know someone else who we should add to the list. We are working with the county on this initiative. And, the Covid Angels are also asking the seniors they are connecting with if they need this service. Please note that home visit vaccinations are only being given to those who can t leave their homes.
That’s disappointed people like Patti Witten, a 63-year-old resident of Dryden, in central New York, who has an autoimmune disorder.
“I thought, ‘Great, I’m going to get vaccinated,’” Witten said. “And then you crash when you find out it isn’t available. Your hopes just crash.”
To explain the delay, Cuomo has cited low vaccine supplies that make it hard for anyone to get a shot. He’s also cited the challenge of determining which medical conditions should count. Millions more people could be eligible if the state included every condition on CDC’s list, he said.
“That category can get very large, very quickly,” Cuomo said Tuesday in a call with reporters, adding if everyone is eligible, no one will get the shot.

Confusion over NY vaccine expansion
Some county officials around New York are urging Governor Cuomo to give them more guidance on his decision to extend vaccine eligibility, after Cuomo announced that restaurant workers and even Uber drivers could be added to the list of people who can get the shot.
ALBANY, N.Y. - Even as New York has expanded the ranks of healthy people who can get the coronavirus vaccine, it has wrestled with tough decisions about extending eligibility to people with medical conditions that might make them extra vulnerable.
