Back to the Past: Vestal Museum Moving Project Rescheduled
The planned relocation of the historic railroad station that s home to the Vestal town museum has been delayed.
The building was constructed by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad in 1881. It was moved to its current site near the town library on the Vestal Parkway in 1972.
Museum director Cherese Rosales said the relocation project now is planned for next year.

Rosales said the former railroad station building is to be moved to a spot east of the coal house near the rail trail off Main Street.

Dollar General Plans to Open Store on Vestal Parkway
Construction is underway for a building that will house a Dollar General store in the town of Vestal.
The store will be located at 2301 Vestal Parkway West in the Ross Corners section of the town. The site is just east of Arlington Avenue.
According to Dollar General, the store is slated to open late in the summer. It s expected to employ between six and ten people.
The Vestal Parkway location is less than three miles from a Dollar General store on Route 434 in Apalachin. That store opened about three years ago.
First Look Inside Renovated Historic Binghamton Fire Station
Work to transform an old Binghamton firehouse from a restaurant into office and retail space is nearing completion.
What had been a second floor dining area for the Number 5 restaurant has been renovated for office use by four tenants. The first floor of the building at South Washington Street and the Vestal Parkway will become a retail store.
Developer Brett Pritchard said the infrastructure is in place for a building being constructed to the east of the former fire station. That structure will house a Mirabito convenience store and coffee shop, along with a Peoples Security Bank & Trust branch office.
