AJ 40 under 40 talent wins Low Line co-design job

A rising star featured in the AJ 40 under 40 has won the competition to co-design a key stretch of the Low Line in south-central London
East London-based JA Projects – founded by AJ 40 under 40 winner Jayden Ali – was selected following a competitive pitch ahead of Ludwig Willis Architects and Untitled Practice to work up concepts for Wardens Grove, America Street and Ewer Street.

The commission – backed by Better Bankside
– is the latest phase in the ongoing Low Line initiative, inspired by New York’s High Line, to deliver a linear regeneration of a series of underused 19th-century railway viaducts running through Bankside, London Bridge and Bermondsey.

The practice will work with the project’s masterplanner, Levitt Bernstein to draw up the next stage of the ongoing redevelopment, which is backed by developer EcoWorld London and local housing provider Poplar HARCA.

The Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) has announced a competition for a new health and wellbeing centre in Kent [Deadline: 8 June 2021]
The winning team will draw up plans for a new ‘world-class, BREEAM outstanding, inclusive, dementia friendly building’ within the emerging Ebbsfleet Garden City in north Kent, where 15,000 new homes and 30,000 new jobs are expected to be created by 2035.

The new health centre will feature a mix of clinical and wellbeing facilities along with between new intergenerational homes, community spaces and landscaping. The latest competition comes three years after a team featuring JTP won a contest organised by EDC for ideas to boost healthy living in the new city.
