A project to relieve pressure on doctors in India as a devastating second Covid-19 wave sweeps the country is being spearheaded from Somerset.
Prof Parag Singhal, the secretary of the British Association Of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO), is offering online advice to junior doctors.
BAPIO is helping them on virtual ward rounds and raising funds to buy equipment for Indian hospitals. It s very tough. The stories are horrific, said Prof Singhal.
Prof Singhal, a specialist at the Weston General Hospital in Weston-super-Mare, said efforts using telemedicine aimed to pass on what has been learned in the UK over the last year.

Volunteers at Cheddar Vale Lions Club have donated laptops to patients at Weston General Hospital so they can talk to their families at home.
The hospital will also use the devices with dementia patients for when volunteers show them pictures on-screen of their memories.
As part of Cheddar Lions laptop appeal, members have distributed 87 laptops/iPads to families and people in the local community, but they had 14 devices left to give to worthwhile causes.

Five deserving healthcare staff have been awarded six-month memberships to theclub and spa at Cadbury House.
The health club, in Frost Hill, teamed up with the North Somerset Times and Weston Mercury to give readers the chance to nominate someone who has made a difference in their lives during the pandemic, or a loved one who deserves a treat.
Staff from Cadbury House wanted to reward those who have gone above and beyond during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A spokesman for Cadbury House said: Unsurprisingly and considering the hardship brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, the majority of those nominated either work for the brilliant NHS or have some medical background.
