LISBON While the Columbiana County Health Department has spent the year working toward keeping as many residents safe from the coronavirus as possible, the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board has been trying to make certain the pandemic does not harm more people mentally, including those who may not normally suffer from mental health issues.

LISBON School employees are soon to get their first doses of COVID-19 vaccine. The plans are in place to vaccinate teachers, custodial, food service, bus drivers and others who have contact with students on a regular basis.
The county health department will have six vaccination teams heading to six of the county schools for on-site vaccinations on Thursday, Feb. 11 Crestview, Leetonia, Lisbon, Southern, United and Wellsville.
Mass vaccination coordinator Laura Fauss said the teams will be working with the assistance of the schools to get those shots done without interrupting anything else. School nurses, who were vaccinated in an early group with the health care workers, will be helping with those vaccinations.

LISBON For the second week in a row Columbiana County had no new deaths reported connected to COVID-19.
The Columbiana County Health Department also reported a decrease in the number of new cases. A week ago there were 365 new cases, but this week, since Jan. 22, there have been 211 new cases. That is an average of 30 positive cases per day.
There have been 7,554 residents test positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of those 127 have died and another 6,968 have recovered.
For a second week in a row, the county health department and their 13 partner locations around the county have been working to vaccinate the older residents in the county.
