Teammate’s injury likely to open up opportunity for Rangers’ Yang Hyeon-jong May 10, 2021
A teammate’s misfortune could mean an opportunity for Texas Rangers’ pitcher Yang Hyeon-jong.
The Rangers announced Sunday (U.S. local time) that they’ve placed right-hander Kohei Arihara on the 10-day injured list with a right middle finger contusion.
it’s the same injury that held him out of his scheduled start last Wednesday. Yang filled in as the starter in that game against the Minnesota Twins, striking out eight in 3 1/3 innings of one-run ball.
Arihara returned to the rotation Saturday, and Yang moved back into the bullpen, where he began his major league career last month. But Arihara pitched only 3 2/3 innings and will now miss a minimum 10 days.

A full slate of games as Round Rock started play today.
For Frisco, Tyler Phillips had an impressive 2021 debut, throwing 4 shutout innings and striking out 5, with 2 hits and a walk. Hever Bueno had a 1-2-3 5th with a pair of Ks, and went out for the sixth, but after retiring the first batter he walked the next three, which ended his night. Joe Gatto came on in relief of Bueno and, whatever issues he may have had in camp, he didn’t have them today, as he went 2.1 hitless IP, striking out 3 and walking 1. Fernery Ozuna had 1.1 shutout innings to finish it out.

Good morning, folks.
Your Texas Rangers are currently 16-17 on the year. We are approximately 20% of the way through the season.damn, that’s farther into the season than it feels like. The season is going by kind of quickly.
A little while back, we took a look at the Rangers hitters, and how the Statcast expected data compared to their actual results. Today, we want to take a look at the same info for the Rangers’ pitchers. We are going use wOBA and xwOBA wOBA is a one-stop-shopping single number to express overall offensive performance, and xwOBA is the same thing, only using expected results based on exit velocity and launch angle of each individual ball put in play rather than what really happened, along with the actual walk, strikeout and HBP results.
