On Friday, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order establishing the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AA and NHPI) and the President’s Advisory Commission on AA and NHPI.
In recent months, hate crimes against Asian-Americans have increased due to the xenophobic rhetoric that blames Asians for the spread of COVID-19. Human Rights Watch reported earlier this month that government leaders in countries like the US and the UK directly or indirectly fueled hate crimes, racism and xenophobia by using anti-China rhetoric.
