Norman Avenue TWO surveys will be carried out in South Oxfordshire following concerns about speeding. Oxfordshire County councillor Emily Smith confirmed that new road markings will be installed at the Northcourt Lane and Clevelands junction in North Abingdon to increase visibility and remind people to drive carefully. The councillor also revealed that two speed surveys will be conducted on Oxford Road and Northcourt Lane, and Norman Avenue after a ‘nasty’ incident. They are often clogged by traffic in the mornings when parents take their children to the three schools in the area. These will take place after the third national lockdown comes to an end.

Council chiefs across Oxfordshire have said they are preparing to hold local elections in May, as rumours grow that the Government may make moves to postpone the poll. Local elections are due to be held across the UK on May 6, 2021, including for Oxfordshire County Council. Elections which were due to take place in May 2020 that were postponed by the pandemic will also be held this year, including for Oxford City Council and Cherwell District Council. And a by-election is also due to be held for a single seat on South Oxfordshire District Council.
Persimmon Homes plan for 400 properties in formerGrove Airfield PLANS for hundreds of homes in an Oxfordshire village have sparked concerns about contamination. Persimmon Homes – the developer behind the 2,500-home Wellington Gate estate at Grove Airfield – has now applied for planning permission to build more than 400 extra homes on the northern edge of the new estate – which is still under construction. The plan also includes new access roads, open space, landscaping and drainage. The land is already earmarked for 400 homes in Vale of White Horse District Council s Local Plan – and it is to that council that Persimmon has submitted its application, saying the site could take ‘considerably more’ housing.
Persimmon Homes properties NEARLY 200 more homes were proposed as part of a major estate in an Oxfordshire village. Persimmon Homes applied to build 169 dwellings including new cycle and pedestrian paths, green infrastructure and landscaping in Grove. The properties are part of the 2,500-home development on the village s former airfield. Several parcels of the development have already been approved and homebuyers have moved in at approximately 200 properties. The reserved matters application that was registered with Vale of White Horse District Council earlier this month and the council s planning committee are set to make a decision on March 2. Both Grove Parish Council and East Challow Parish Council have already registered they have no objections to the development.
AS Oxfordshire moves into Tier 4 from Boxing Day, one Oxfordshire council leader has urged people to follow government guidelines to stop coronavirus spread. Emily Smith, the Liberal Democrat Leader of the Vale of White Horse District Council said: Only by following the rules carefully can we stop the rapid increase in cases that we’ve seen locally in the past few weeks and help to protect ourselves and our communities. Matt Hancock, the health secretary announced earlier today that Oxfordshire will be placed under Tier 4 measures from Boxing Day. Tier 4 is effectively a full lockdown, and most of the South East of England will be covered by the measures from December 26.
