IT’S the final big weekend of trials for the Cheltenham Festival, and tomorrow’s cards look hugely competitive with SONG FOR SOMEONE set to enhance his already solid each-way Champion Hurdle prospects in the Grade Two Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton (3.18).
This slick-jumping six-year-old is on a four-timer following three wins at Grade Two level. The last of those was at Cheltenham in the International Hurdle, holding off the subsequent Christmas Hurdle hero Silver Streak under a fabulous ride from Aidie Coleman.
A clear-cut win here will see double-figure prices disappear pretty quickly for this underrated and still unexposed top-class timber topper. So if you haven’t backed him yet for the big one next month, I would suggest you grab an each-way slice of the 20/1 on offer now.

A BEEF farmer from North Craven is counting down the days in anticipation ahead of this year’s annual highlight in the British jumps racing calendar – the Cheltenham Festival, in March. For Les Fell, 78, of Brigholme Farm, Giggleswick, will have a well-fancied runner in one of the Festival’s premier races, The Champion Hurdle, with his galloping grey, Silver Streak. The eight-year-old gelding is due to run in the flagship contest, one of the British jumps calendar’s most high profile races, for the third time. He finished third in 2019, then sixth last year beaten 12 lengths by the defending champion and this year’s 9/4 ante-post favourite, the Nicky Henderson-trained Epatante.

With the dawn of 2021, I was very keen to bid goodbye to 2020 (the year of Covid), by driving out and seeing it recede in my rear view mirror. So in mid-January, my built in compass decided that I should head due north from Mumbai to Himmatnagar in Gujarat, and visit Maharaj Narendra Singhji of Idar, to see his car collection and experience a heritage home-stay at the Dowlat Villas Palace.
Maharaj Narendra Singhji of Idar, is a keen automobile enthusiast with a fine collection of classic cars
