Another large scrub fire that broke out near Christchurch s Port Hills on Tuesday has been contained.
Emergency services were called to the blaze on Galilee Lane in the Clifton area around 11:30am on Tuesday.
Sixteen houses around Revelation Drive, Bay View Road and Galilee Lane were evacuated as a precaution.
FENZ says around a dozen fire appliances attended the fire, along with ground crews and four helicopters. A number of road closures are still in place, FENZ says. An aerial (helicopters) attack is still taking place and we expect our crews to remain on site overnight.
The public is asked to stay away from the area.
He said there was no damage to any homes or properties, and no injuries.
