Dimanche Gras! Not deflated, not defeated, will Brathwaite s WI double up in Dhaka?

Dimanche Gras! Not deflated, not defeated, will Brathwaite’s WI double up in Dhaka? A double-century on debut! And in Asia to boot! That’s the stuff of which West Indian boyhood dreams are made. As well as come-from-behind West Indian victories.  Guardian cricket reporter Vinode Mamchan did not seem to know about these dreams. Or to care about them. On television on Friday evening, he was asked by programme host Barry Wilkinson what he thought was the minimum score the hosts needed for a safe declaration.

Best: Whether with Pollard or Holder, WI spinning top in mud without CWI reform

Best: Whether with Pollard or Holder, WI spinning top in mud without CWI reform  For 32 years since Viv Richards’ West Indies beat Australia by nine wickets at the Gabba, no other country successfully breached that fortress.  Of the 31 matches played there between that defeat and this year, the home side had drawn seven and won 24. Last Updated January 28, 2021 The complicated legacy of Alfred Kroeber will no longer be honored on a campus building after UC Berkeley unnamed Kroeber Hall, a decision that has drawn more praise than criticism. According to the Proposal to Un-name Kroeber Hall, Kroeber was a founding member of UC Berkeley’s anthropology department and began teaching in 1902. Though he was a pioneer in the field, Kroeber took custody of a Native American man known as Ishi and had him perform as a living exhibit on campus, something the proposal cites as one of the main reasons to dename the hall. The hall will temporarily be referred to as the Anthropology and Art Practice build

Waiting for Wehby action, WI wonders about Pollard s promotion and the Peter Principle

Waiting for Wehby action, WI wonders about Pollard’s promotion and the Peter Principle On the radio on Friday morning, the announcer broke the news this way: “ As expected, Bangladesh defeated the West Indies by seven wickets in the second ODI earlier today.” Photo: Bangladesh players celebrate the fall of a West Indies wicket during the second ODI meeting between the two teams. That she should so matter-of-factly say ‘as expected’ is bad enough. What is worse is that she was neither making it up nor offering an opinion. The hosts occupy seventh spot in the ICC ODI rankings, two places above Kieron Pollard’s white-ball side. Defeat by Bangladesh is indeed what we were expecting.
