Some years ago, Rabbi Evan Moffic offered some great insights to consider for the beginning of a new year. Using some of his suggestions and throwing in a few of my own, the following is a list of things to ponder for a bright and hopeful future as we stand at the dawn of 2021.
LOOKING BACKWARD AND FORWARD: The name January comes from the Roman god “Janus.” He had two faces so he could look backward and forward at the same time. As we look back at 2020, many of us will remember the pandemic, the loss of people dear to us, a bruising and divisive national election and civil and racial unrest on a scale not seen in decades. Understandably, this may be a year that we would soon like to forget. Yet, for many of us, it has also been a time when we grew closer to those we love.
