For a few hours on Wednesday- chaos ruled in the halls of congress. A pro-Trump mob broke down the doors and flooded the building- vandalizing some of the lawmakers offices. A woman was shot dead by law enforcement.  Lawmakers and staff were hustled to safety but otherwise police appeared powerless to stop the mob.  Once lawmakers returned to debate- some who said they had planned to voice objections to the electoral count, changed their minds in light of the violence.

Two things likely to dominate Florida politics in 2021 are coronavirus and Donald Trump. That’s according to Republican political analyst Frank Torres, who tells Intersection that the pandemic recovery will require bipartisan effort, from the White House down to state and local politics.  “I think the big takeaway for 2021 for Joe Biden, Ron DeSantis, even here in Orlando, with Buddy Dyer and Jerry Demings, will be Coronavirus recovery,” says Torres.

Now we re averaging 14-16 cases a day. There aren t any hospitals in Willacy, meaning anyone who needs to be transported needs to be driven to Harlingen.  We are picking up a lot more COVID related patients with breathing problems breather, Torres said. And on top of that, it s flu season.
