Westmoreland County on Thursday added 107 additional covid cases and four deaths, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported.
The newly-reported deaths now bring the county’s death toll to 557. There have been 134 deaths attributed to the disease reported this month in the county.
The total number of cases in Westmoreland County now stands at 23,731 with 17,187 confirmed and 6,544 probable since the first cases were reported in March. There have been 78,896 people in the county who have tested negative for the virus.
Pennsylvania’s Department of Health on Thursday reported 313 additional covid deaths and 7,175 cases. With the day’s report, there have been 2,764 deaths counted this month, though not all the deaths occurred this month. Allegheny County on Thursday reported 55 new coronavirus deaths, a record number that topped the previous high of 34 set on Dec. 9.
The death toll for the county now stands at 743. There have been 229 deaths reported this month.
The Allegheny County Health Department said that the new deaths occurred between Nov. 24 and Wednesday. The ages of the deceased were: one person in their 50s, four in their 60s, 13 in their 70s, 22 in their 80s, 12 in their 90s, and three people were over 100. Thirty-eight deaths were associated with long-term care facilities.

Westmoreland County added 397 additional covid cases and 9 new deaths Thursday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported.
The additional deaths bring the county’s death toll to 326. There have been 122 deaths attributed to the disease this month in the county. The county ranks as the 12th-highest death toll in the state.
After topping the 15,000 mark on Wednesday, the total number of cases in the county now stands at 15,545, with 11,917 confirmed and 3,628 probable since the first cases were reported in March.
The Department of Health defines a probable case as one in which a patient has “a positive serology (antibody) test and either covid-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure” to someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.
