BUTTERWORTH: A Bangladeshi man was jailed two months by a Sessions Court for trying to bribe a policeman when he was detained for not wearing his face mask properly at a shopping mall here. The furniture shop worker, only known as Jahir, 49, was also fined RM10,000 in default two months jail after he admitted offering RM150 to a policeman while on his way to a police station in a patrol car. According to the facts of the case, Jahir had gone to a shopping mall in Prai to to buy a handphone on Feb 21. However, upon returning home and discovering that the phone wasn t charging properly, he returned to the mall to get help from the outlet where he had bought the phone.

Covid-19: Works Ministry allocates RM7mil to subsidise screening costs for foreign construction workers

KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry has set aside RM7mil under the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) to subsidise Covid-19 screening costs for foreign workers. Senior Minister (Works) Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said under the programme, each foreign worker registered with CIDB will be entitled to a RM50 subsidy to undergo the RTK-Antigen test. The tests will be managed by CIDB s subsidiary, CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd, and will be conducted at selected panel clinics. The purpose of this subsidy is to encourage employers to get their foreign workers tested and also to encourage those yet to be registered under CIDB to do so, he said Monday (March 1).
