VIJAYAWADA: Minister for Endowments Velampalli Srinivas Rao on Sunday alleged that BJP and Telugu Desam were indulging in politics in the name of temples to derive benefits in the ensuing Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election.
He said that BJP State president Somu Veerraju has threatened the police about lodging complaints against them with the Union Government regarding attacks on temples, which was objectionable.

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas came down heavily on BJP State President Somu Veerraju, BJP MLC P.V.N Madhav and TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu for targeting Police Department over the attacks on temples issue.
Speaking to media here on Sunday, the Minister said it is unfortunate that instead of denying the allegations of the involvement in temple vandalism, BJP State President Somu Veerraju has written a letter threatening Director General of Police Gautam Sawand while MLC Madhav said that he would complain to the Central Government. He said the DGP will provide evidence for the charges filed and the government would take strict action if any one is trying to highlight this for political gains. He said that Chandrababu Naidu had no fear or faith in God and no moral right to speak on Hindus and temples.

Amaravati, Jan 15 : As many as 2,679 temples have simultaneously conducted Kamadhenu Gopuja Mahostavam (cow worship, Gopuja) in Andhra Pradesh on Friday.
Friday also happens to be Kanuma , an integral part of Sankranti festival and also auspicious for Gopuja.
The statewide Gopuja Mahostavam is being held under the auspices of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy attended Gopuja prayers at the district sports authority stadium in Narsaraopeta in Guntur district.

Raghupati said the Opposition parties were trying to gain political mileage through temple attacksit.

Kakinada: Deputy Speaker of AP Legislative Assembly Kona Raghupathi exhorted all on Friday that the incidents of attacks on temples should not be given a political colour. He stated so after taking darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy of Dwaraka Tirumala in West Godavari and participating in the Dappu Kalakarula Sangam meeting.
Kona Raghupathi told the media that at a time when the state government was taking up many programmes to uplift the downtrodden sections, it was unfortunate such incidents of attacks on temples took place.

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 6 (ANI): A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker attempted self-immolation on Wednesday during a protest outside the Vizianagaram district collector s office.
The protest was held against the arrest of state BJP president Somu Veerraju and other leaders who were undertaking a Dharma Yatra on Tuesday against the vandalisation of Lord Rama idol last week by unknown miscreants.
The police rescued the worker, Abdul Adil, who had poured petrol over himself and shifted him to a hospital.
Slogans were raised at the protest against the state Endowment Minister Vellampalli Srinivas.
