PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 14, 2021 /PRNewswire/ As construction finally nears completion on the highly anticipated W and Element dual-branded hotel in downtown Philadelphia, the property s owner Chestlen Development LP ( Chestlen ) today provided updates on the project including plans to open in 2021 and a recently filed complaint against Tutor Perini Building Corporation ( Tutor Perini or TPBC ), the multi-billion dollar national construction firm it hired in 2015 as general contractor for the project.
Chestlen agreed in 2012 to build the hotel at the request of the City of Philadelphia to help overcome a hotel room shortage in Center City. With the Pennsylvania Convention Center offering more space for events, the City made it a priority to add another major

Well then… let’s just pick back up where we left off in our roundup of deals Monday with two new transactions that see private equity firms enter new investments in the government market.
Sagewind Capital has added a fourth platform to its government services portfolio in sensor data services firm Sigma Defense Systems.
Terms of that transaction announced Wednesday were undisclosed. In tandem with the deal, Sigma Defense said it hired former Special Operations Command Chief Information Officer John Wilcox as CEO and veteran SAP NS2 executive Matt Johns as president.
Scott Ritchie and Thor James, Sigma Defense’s founders, will respectively remain with the company as chief growth officer and chief operating officer. They will also retain a significant equity ownership.
