City of Laredo, Webb County to continue current COVID protocols within their offices for time being

Ahead of Texas’ reopening and the elimination of the state mask mandate come Wednesday, the administrations of both Webb County and the City of Laredo are going to continue operating under their current protocols for at least the duration of March. This means employees and visitors must continue to wear masks inside of city and county buildings and maintain social distancing.
Webb County will also be opening its community centers imminently. Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Landin said the majority of the people who typically frequent community centers senior citizens have already received at least their first dose of the vaccine. As long as visitors wear masks and practice social distancing, there is no need to keep community centers closed, he said.

HOUSTON President Biden on Wednesday strongly criticized the decisions by the governors of Texas and Mississippi to lift statewide mask mandates, calling the plans “a big mistake” that reflected “Neanderthal thinking,” as his administration tries to manage the pandemic while state leaders set their own plans.
