It was announced on Monday that Teen Vogue had found its new editor-in-chief after the magazine s first choice became a victim of cancel culture.
The magazine s parent company Condé Nast tapped Versha Sharma, the managing editor of the far-left website NowThis to head Teen Vogue s newsroom nearly two months after former Axios correspondent Alexi McCammond withdrew the job opportunity amid backlash from Teen Vogue staffers over old tweets.
Sharma is set to take over as editor-in-chief on May 24. Versha is a natural leader with a global perspective and deep understanding of local trends and issues from politics and activism to culture and fashion and their importance to our audience, Condé Nast boss Anna Wintour wrote in a press release. NEW YORK – Teen Vogue has chosen Versha Sharma, a top editor at NowThis, to replace Alexi McCammond as editor-in-chief after a swirl of controversy over McCammond’s past anti-Asian tweets.
Sharma takes over May 24 at the digital-only publication after McCammond and the Conde Nast title parted ways before her appointment took effect.
“I am incredibly excited and grateful for this awesome opportunity,” the 34-year-old Sharma tweeted of Monday’s announcement.
Anna Wintour, the global editorial director of Vogue and chief content officer for Conde Nast, said in a statement that Sharma is a “natural leader” with a “global perspective and deep understanding of local trends and issues – from politics and activism to culture and fashion.”

The announcement comes almost two months after Alexi McCammond was ousted following employee backlash over a series of racist tweets she posted
Sharma has previously served as managing editor and senior correspondent at the news website NowThis since 2014
