On Monday, an individual reported they were the victim of a scam. The individual responded to a message indicating they owed a Custom’s fee for a package being delivered. Unfortunately the individual provided their credit card info without verifying the authenticity of the sender and suffered a financial loss. WPS reminds everyone not to provide any personal or financial information to anyone without verifying who they are and that it is for a legitimate purpose. On Tuesday, officers recovered a stolen vehicle that sustained significant damage. The matter is currently being investigated and charges are pending. Officers also responded to a reported intoxicated individual who was at risk of being hit by a vehicle. The individual was located, held overnight, and released in the morning when sober.

It was initiated because we wanted to support our officers who are called on to assist people with intellectual disabilities, some of them non-communicative,” explained Jackie Wilson of Inclusion Weyburn. “This would be a difficult situation for both the individual and officers.
