Oxnard students help plan COVID-19 vaccine clinic Saturday

View Comments Ventura County residents looking to get a COVID-19 vaccine dose are invited to a student-organized vaccine clinic being held at Pacifica High School in Oxnard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Students, in particular, are encouraged to attend the clinic planned by Pacifica seniors in the school s health science academy and Ventura County Public Health. Parental consent is required for those younger than 18 getting their shot. The vaccine is not required at local high schools as of now. Oxnard Union High School District Superintendent Tom McCoy has previously said the district will provide information about vaccination sites, but will ultimately leave the decision up to students and parents.

Ventura County opens pop-up vaccination clinics to reach more people

Pop-up vaccination sites continue in Ventura County OXNARD, Calif. – Ventura County officials say they are still seeing lower numbers of people signing to get vaccinated. To boost numbers the county is rolling out pop-up vaccine sites in different areas. Ventura County public health workers are going door to door letting people know a vaccine pop-up site is in their community. “We do have a team out right now,” said Hannah Edmondson, a nurse for Ventura County Public Health. “They are going from door to door letting residents in the community know that we are here and we are available, and that they do not need an appointment. They can just come over right now and get a vaccine.”
