John T. Hallowell, managing director of the Woodstock Inn & Resort and vice chair of the Woodstock Resort Corporation, announced the promotion of W. Courtney Lowe to president of the Woodstock Inn & Resort, effective July 1, 2021. Lowe, who joined the resort in 2010 as director of sales and marketing, was named vice president of Marketing and Business Development in 2018. He will oversee all resort operations in his new position.
Lowe has served as a member of Woodstock s Economic Development Commission and has contributed to several boards in the Woodstock community, including the Norman Williams Library and the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce.

WOODSTOCK The Woodstock Inn & Resort, the luxury hotel and anchor of the village’s economy, has named marketing and business development chief Courtney Lowe as president, with management oversight over all operations.
Lowe, a longtime hospitality industry executive who joined the Woodstock Inn in 2010, is taking over the president’s reins from John Hallowell, who will segue to focus on “strategic matters” and forging a closer working relationship with sister organization Billings Farm & Museum to enhance education programs, the Woodstock Resort Corp. said in a news release.

The wedding business is back on again.
After cancellations and postponements arising from more than a year of pandemic-related quarantines, social distancing and face masks, Upper Valley businesses tied to the wedding industry say inquiries are rolling in about availability.
“Numbers-wise we are back up to almost where we were in 2019,” said
Brandon Blood, owner of
Blood’s Catering & Party Rentals in White River Junction. “We’re booked solid for seven out of 10 weekends between mid-August and early October.”
Blood’s enthusiasm stands in contrast to last summer as the pandemic shut down weddings and gatherings. When couples nixed nuptials many pushing the date into 2021 that in turn stranded banquet venues, tent companies, caterers, photographers, floral designers, musicians, DJs and other vendors.
Community briefs: Paving project begins in Woodstock Village

WOODSTOCK Motorists driving through Woodstock Village should expect delays from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday as construction crews prepare Routes 4 and 106 for paving.
Drivers can expect roads reduced to one-lane traffic. Street parking will also be banned along the route while the crews complete their work. During nighttime hours, light towers will be used.
The project will begin just south of the Woodstock Inn and Resort Golf Club on Route 106 and run to its intersection with Route 4/South Park Street, according to a news release from the Vermont Agency of Transportation. It also begins at the Route 12/Elm Street and Route 4/Central Street intersection before going north along Route 12/Elm Street to just north of its intersection with Old River Road at the Class 1 Town Highway limit.
