CHURCHES IN Bethesda and Barnesville are preparing to hold National Day of Prayer services this Thursday, and all community members are welcome.
The Rev. Tim Snyder of Bethesda Christian Church said he is eager for the fellowship that will occur this year.
“We’ll be meeting on May 6, that’ll be at noon,” he said.
There will be a 45-minute program, then another at 7 p.m.
“There’s not many that show up at noon,” he said. “A lot of people are working and the kids are in school. … It seemed a no-brainer to offer a second program at 7 p.m.”

Local historian Thomas James recently donated three military reference books that he compiled and gave to the three Marshall County libraries–Moundsville, Cameron and Benwood-McMechen.
The book is titled “Honored Patriots of Marshall County, West Virginia.”
James undertook this research project at the invitation of the Marshall County Commission. His work details the military service of 464 county soldiers who died in the line of duty.
The scope of the project encompasses those who served in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf Wars.
The names of these soldiers are engraved on five granite monuments in the Veterans Plaza on the Marshall County Courthouse.
Sunrise Silver Spring Members Rally for Good Jobs For All
On Sunday, about two dozen young people with Sunrise Silver Spring, called on U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin to sign the Good Jobs for All pledge demanding that the government provide jobs that are green, well-paid and provide paid leave.
The pledge calls on federal politicians to “commit to doing everything in my power to pass legislation that guarantees good jobs for all, invests $10 trillion over the next decade to create millions of union jobs addressing the crises of climate change, economic inequity, and systemic racism, and puts money into the hands of people and communities, not the wealthy few.”
