When Mary Figg recently downsized from her house on an acre in Lutz to a townhome, she had a lot of donating to do.
The furniture that didn’t fit in her new digs was bound for Habitat for Humanity.
“Hopefully they made a little money,” said Figg, a former Florida legislator. “And that prospect makes me feel good.”
Across Tampa Bay, residents are busy spring cleaning and pandemic purging and some, purposefully donating what they don’t need to causes they support.

Wimauma, Fl.(Florida News Network)-At around 7:00 a.m. on April 1st, the child s mother called 911 to report her 9-year-old son had been hit by an unknown vehicle while waiting for the school bus on the 2400 block of West Lake Drive in Wimauma. The child s mother transported her son to an area hospital to be treated for head injuries. The child s condition is unknown at this time. Deputies recovered surveillance video that captured the boy walking along the roadway, toward the bus stop, just before 6:00 a.m. At some point, shortly after walking out of the video frame, the child was hit. A dark-colored sedan traveling northbound on West Lake Drive is seen seconds before the incident took place and, at this time, is considered a vehicle of interest.

GIBSONTON â A 68-year-old Wimauma motorcyclist died Wednesday after he crashed into the back of a car that had slowed for traffic on Interstate 75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash took place about 11:21 a.m. on northbound I-75 south of the Big Bend Road exit.
The motorcyclist was headed north in the inside lane. Ahead of him in that lane was a car driven by a 79-year-old woman with a 74-year-old male passenger, both from Stroudsburg, Pa. Then she slowed for traffic.
