VENTNOR Exchange will be participating in Record Store Day (RSD) 2021, having taken a hiatus from the event last year due to the pandemic. This year, to help with social distancing, RSD will take place over two dates, Saturday June 12 and Saturday July 17. Ventnor Exchange is the event s only official store on the Isle of Wight, having first participated in 2014. Now, the exchange is asking people to send them details of the releases they would most like to see made available. This can be done by contacting the venue either by calling 716767 or emailing hello@ventnorexchange.co.uk. All record shops who take part in RSD make a commitment they will adhere to a first come, first served rule, and will not reserve or hold stock for customers.
Los Bitchos are among the acts signed up for Ventnor Fringe. MULTI award-winning arts festival Ventnor Fringe has announced a raft of acts for its ten day celebration of the arts this summer. The Fringe, which features gigs, comedy and performances in pop-up venues throughout Ventnor, will return for an extended ten day edition from July 23 to August 1. In recent years it has become an important testing ground for artists premiering new material, running in the lead up to Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A host of new acts have been announced including RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant Joe Black who will be previewing new show Decopunk.
New versions of Romeo and Juliet, and The Importance of Being Earnest, are coming to Ventnor Park. THREE actors cooped up together in lockdown have created an unhinged and bonkers version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. The play will be performed in the open air setting of Ventnor Park on May 29 and 30. More than a year since the curtain came down on performances at Ventnor Exchange, with the start of the first national lock down, the team is excited to be preparing for the return of its live programme. It begins with the laugh-out-loud version of Romeo and Juliet, created by The Handlebards, a company who cycle the length and breadth of the country to reach all their touring destinations on two wheels.
