BLUEWATER – In the midst of the third wave of COVID-19 in Ontario, Bluewater councillors discussed the handling of the municipality’s beaches through the summer season during the May 3 regular council meeting.
Though some municipalities throughout Ontario are considering whether they should close their beaches in the summer, Bluewater councillors said they plan to take a similar approach in 2021 as they did in 2020 – sticking to Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) and provincial guidelines and restrictions.

SOUTH HURON â The municipality will continue with the practice of internet and telephone voting in the 2022 municipal and school board election.
Council at its March 15 meeting authorized the use of internet and telephone voting during the 2022 election, a practice that was also used in the 2018 election. A bylaw will be passed at a future council meeting to make the voting system official for the 2022 election.

The municipality will also participate in a joint request for proposal process with other lower-tier municipalities in the county to find an election voting provider for the next election. The Municipality of Central Huron is taking the lead on the joint request for proposal.
