AUSTIN, Texas The fight over how and when Texans can vote continues. Activists are calling on more corporations to denounce Texas’ controversial bill that seeks to limit early voting hours and local power.
Gov. Greg Abbott appeared on Fox News Tuesday, a day after he stated he will no longer participate in Major League Baseball events. He disagrees with the league s decision to relocate the All-Star Game from Georgia due to its new voting law. Abbott also responded to the opposition from Texas-based companies including American Airlines and Southwest Airlines over Texas s Senate Bill 7. They need to stay out of politics, especially when they have no clue what they re talking about, Abbott said.

Challenges to Harrisburg mayoral candidate Otto V. Banks residency status in the city have been finally dropped, and Banks will be on the Democratic primary ballot this spring.

A city voter in Harrisburg has ended his challenge to mayoral candidate Otto V. Banks’ city residency, erasing any doubt about Banks’ appearance on the May 18 Democratic Party primary.
The petitioner in the case, Green Street resident Joseph Wright, opted not to appeal his April 1 defeat in Dauphin County court to Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court, bringing the case against Banks to a formal end, Wright’s attorney Karen Balaban said. Attempts to reach Wright were not successful.

Former Housing & Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson said Tuesday that it was disgusting to hear Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., compare Georgia s new election law to South African Apartheid of the mid-20th Century on The Story.
In remarks during an cable news interview, Omar praised calls to boycott the Peach State, saying that in the case of Apartheid which ran from roughly 1948 to 1991 the segregationist and institutionally racist policies against the country s Black population was ended thanks in part to boycotts.

Four Arkansas cities and their surrounding areas face demotion and possible economic repercussions if a proposed statistical change is adopted by the federal Office of Management & Budget.
The OMB received the recommendation from a study committee to double the core population required for designation as a metropolitan statistical area from 50,000 to 100,000. The recommendation was publicized in January just before President Joe Biden’s inauguration and a public comment period ended in mid-March.
If the population threshold is changed, current Arkansas MSAs that are based around Hot Springs, Jonesboro, Pine Bluff and Texarkana would be redesignated as micropolitan statistical areas. While the Jonesboro and Texarkana MSAs have total populations of more than 100,000, the designation requires a core urban area usually a single city to be over the minimum threshold, currently at 50,000.
