BOARDMAN A township man accused of assault turned himself in to police shortly afterward.
Paul Downing, 37, of Homestead Drive, was arrested and told police he “wanted to hurt other people” and “needs to be put away,” according to a report.
Officers were called about 10:12 p.m. Monday to the residence. They met with a man there who said Downing came to the residence to get some belongings. He did not want Downing to come inside and, after an argument, the report states Downing swung at him and the two began to wrestle outside.
The other man was able to get away and call 911, the report states.
