Sarasota s The Blue Rooster, another local restaurant and venue known for hosting renowned blues artists, is set to feature husband and wife duo Danny Brooks and Lil Miss Debi among its live music lineup this week. Based in Llano, Texas, Brooks plays a blend of Mississippi and Lone Star State blues that he calls “Texassippi.” The pair s most recent release is last year s Are You Ready? J.P. Soars and the Red Hots
Restaurant and blues venue Englewoods on Dearborn s live music lineup this week is scheduled to include South Florida blues guitarist and singer J.P. Soars with his group the Red Hots. In 2019, Soars earned a Blues Rock Artist Blues Music Award nomination and released the Tab Benoit-produced album “Let Go of the Reins,” his follow-up to 2018’s “Southbound I-95, featuring nods to his Florida home on tracks like “Ain’t No Dania Beach.” Soars has also played in the supergroup Southern Hospitality with Grammy-nominated pianist Victor Wainwright and fellow Florida bluesman Damon Fowler. 7 p.m. today; Englewoods on Dearborn, 362 W. Sam Woolf
Singer-songwriter Sam Woolf, who reached the finals on the 13th season of American Idol while a senior at Braden River High School, will return to the area for a show at Sarasota venue The Blue Rooster. Woolf continued to pursue a musical career after American Idol, recently releasing the mellow pop single Ease My Mind and multiple collaborations with duo The Como Brothers.
