Vermont weather is always a source of conversation and it has not disappointed so far in April, but I am hopeful we have finally turned the corner to spring. We are also turning the corner in the legislative session and are seeing the end draw near. Which means a lot of activity in committees and the House floor. There is no way to encompass everything in this short space but you can follow and watch the work by streaming Vermont House of Representatives - YouTube.

Since the Vermont House of Representatives passed its version of fiscal 2022 budget, thereâs been concern raised by Gov. Phil Scottâs office and Republicans over the amount of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds envisioned as part of the spending plan.
The House proposed spending a large portion of that $1.3 billion in the FY 22 budget to free up dollars for other concerns in its version of the budget, which passed the House unanimously on March 26; Scottâs administration came forward with a plan to allocate $1 billion in ARPA funds on April 5.

On Earth Day 2021, we’re paying special attention to the intersection of climate and gender justice. We believe that there is no gender justice without climate justice, and there is no climate justice without gender justice. Yet not all feminists and environmentalists are aware of how interconnected our fights for justice are.
Across the board, women are disproportionately affected by climate change. Women make up 70% of the global population living in poverty. Through rising sea levels and extreme weather events, global warming places millions of people at risk of displacement, a staggering 80% of whom are women.

by Devon Green, Vice President of Government Relations, VAHHS Last week, the House Government Operations Committee took testimony on S.48. The Interstate Nurse Licensure Compact is an important health care workforce initiative and a key recommendation from the Rural Health Services Task Force 2020 Report. Under the compact, nurses can apply for a license in one compact state and have access to all the other compact states without applying for separate licenses, which is an appealing option for new graduates. Maine and New Hampshire are currently compact states and New York and Massachusetts have bills pending in the legislature.
