An anti-corruption group has asked the House of Representatives to impose disciplinary sanctions against two former officials of the chamber for allegedly using their position in “harassing and intimidating” local politicians through the conduct of congressional inquiries.
In a three-page complaint filed Thursday, Dec. 17, before the House Committee on Ethics, the Crimes and Corruption Watch Inc. (CCWI) accused Reps. Luis Raymund “Lray” Villafuerte (NP, Camarines Sur) and Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado (NUP, Bulacan) of committing “unethical” practices” while serving as deputy speaker and chairman of the House Committee on Good Government, respectively.
Known as close allies of former speaker and Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano, Villafuerte and Alvarado have been sacked from their respective posts upon the assumption of incumbent Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
