A red flag warning is in effect through North Iowa and parts of Wisconsin Saturday afternoon until 7pm. This comes as high temps combined with low humidity (15-25% relative humidity) and strong winds out of the SW gusting above 40mph. Fire could spread rapidly under these conditions, and indeed it already has.
As of 4pm, a grass fire was ongoing in Rudd, Iowa. Floyd county dispatch said no structures were involved, but that the fire was large.
Meanwhile, some light rain was falling in parts of Southern Minnesota as clouds thickened. Much of this will not reach the ground, but rain is likely to fall later Sunday with a chance for thunderstorms.

FRIDAY: SCATTERED LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS, CLOUDY, HIGHS IN 50S
On Friday morning, the center of a low pressure system was moving from south to north through La Crosse, WI. Meanwhile, a larger bunch of showers was moving south east at similar speed through Olmsted and Dodge counties. These showers slowed as they moved into the area and dropped around a quarter of an inch of rain in spots like Rochester. As of 8:45 am, there were still some lingering showers in spots closeby including parts of Mower, Steele, and Fillmore counties.
The rest of the day will feature more occasional light showers as the entire system continues to move north. High temps will top out in the mid 50s with cloudy skies. Winds will pick up out of the west this afternoon to 10-15mph. Rain moves out of the area completely after 8pm. Temps drop into the 40s overnight.

There’s no reason to beat around the bush. Last weekend wasn’t what any of us wanted. Western Michigan took both games, and the Broncos who were, at least in my eyes absolutely outstanding throughout the weekend series were absolutely deserving. They played 120 great minutes, and UMD couldn’t get much of anything going.
UMD head man Scott Sandelin addressed the media Wednesday for the first time since Saturday’s 4-1 loss, which completed a weekend sweep. He echoed many of the things he said after the game, when he was effusive in his praise for Western Michigan, making sure to give Andy Murray’s team plenty of credit while saying his team competed harder, even if the scoreboard didn’t show it.

A Winter Storm will impact southern Wisconsin Saturday night through Sunday morning. Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storms Warnings are in effect for all of our area.
Steady snowfall will cover southern Wisconsin by this evening (7-9 p.m.).
Snow will remain steady overnight, making for slick road conditions and low visibilities. Any 3rd shift workers should exercise caution during their drive and should plan on plenty of time for their commute.
Overnight totals will range from 3-6â³+ with the highest amounts south of Madison. Light snow will continue Sunday morning before tapering to flurries during the day. This will bring an additional 1-2â³ of accumulation.
