Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra launches musician relief fund

MADISON, Wis. The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra is creating a fund to help support its artists who are struggling during the pandemic.
The Musician Relief Fund is designed to replace lost wages due to cancelled performances. The fund is aiming to raise at least $30,000 to help over 30 Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra musicians.
For some of the musicians, it’s their main source of income.

The Winter Chamber Series from Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra kicks off with a wide-ranging program featuring works by composers canonical (Gabrieli, Schubert) to current (Valerie Coleman, of Imani Winds), plus a side of 20th century sounds (Alec Wilder). press release: As it nears the launch of its Winter Chamber Series, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra today unveiled its Musician Relief Fund to support its artists, who have faced financial uncertainty since the pandemic hit.
In the spirit of this pandemic-disrupted year, Childrenâs Theater of Madison is offering its annual production of âA Christmas Carolâ free online with a cast of 95 that includes cameos by Gov. Tony Evers and Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway.
“A Christmas Carol: Home for the Holidays,” available at ctmtheater.org now through the end of the month, includes narration submitted by professional and young actors, community members and civic leaders.
The cast includes all of the actors who have played Ebenezer Scrooge in the past 15 years and many regular CTM and American Players Theatre actors. Also making appearances are Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, Wisconsin first lady Kathy Evers, UW marching band director Corey Pompey, the Rev. Alex Gee and Fabu Phillis Carter, a former Madison poet laureate.
