Ensure fever surveys are conducted in all mandals, says Collector
District Collector Vivek Yadav has asked the village sarpanches and panchayat secretaries to take steps to contain the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that people get access to good medical care.
In a teleconference held with sarpanches and secretaries held on Friday, Mr. Yadav said the health department should ensure that fever surveys were conducted at all mandals. The rapid antigen testing kits had been supplied to all villages and 104 and 108 ambulances had also been placed at the disposal of secretaries.

Covaxin second dose to be rolled out from today

Arrangements are being made for the second dose of vaccination for those above 45 years, said Collector Vivek Yadav.
Mr. Yadav said that based on the recommendations of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation and National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration, the Covishied second dose would be administered after 12 to 16 weeks after the first dose. In view of the recommendations, the district administration had also revised vaccine administration policy.
All those above 45 years who have completed 6 to 8 weeks after being administered first dose of Covaxin would be given second dose at the designated vaccine centres across the State. In Guntur Municipal Corporation limits, 10 vaccine centres were set up and the roll out or second dose would begin on Saturday.

Collector Vivek Yadav set the ball rolling for a revamp of the oldest teaching hospital in the State the Government General Hospital, Guntur by initiating a slew of reforms.
In the wake of major incidents at Tirupati and Anantpur, the reforms are expected to bring in change in the administration process and maintenance of the hospital.
At the end of an exhaustive review on the functioning of the GGH, the Collector said that triaging should be scaled up and care taken to ensure that beds are allotted to only serious patients who present with symptoms like a drastic drop in SPO2 levels, high fever, and incessant cough.

South Central Railway, Guntur has set up a 70-bedded COVID Care Centre on the premises of Rail Mahal, near Guntur Railway Station (western side).
Divisional Railway Manager A. Mohana Raja, Collector Vivek Yadav, Joint Collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar and Joint Collector (Development) P. Prasanthi were present.
Out of 70 beds, 16 beds are fitted with oxygen supply and nine beds are equipped with oxygen concentrators, which have been arranged by the Collector. The arrangements include pipelines and humidifiers. The Railways said that 40% of the facility is reserved for serving/retired railway employees and their family members.
